49th Festival della Valle d'Itria
The 49th edition of the Festival della Valle d'Itria presents 3 operas and 2 operettas that go around the various forms, conventions and interpretations of the funny on the Italian and European stages between 1759 and 1923. We are celebrating three anniversaries (100, 150 and 250 years from their respective world premieres) and again this year we are following the Festival della Valle d'Itria tradition of bringing to the attention of the public, forgotten titles with a first in modern times and two titles most likely never performed in Italy.“Il Turco in Italia” by Gioachino Rossini (1814), “Il paese dei campanelli” by Carlo Lombardo and Virgilio Ranzato (1923) and three premiere operas: “L’Orazio” by Pietro Auletta (1737), on stage for the first time in the contemporary times, the Italian premiere in contemporary times of “Gli Uccellatori” by Florian Leopold Gassmann (1759) and the absolute premiere in Italy of “L’adorable Bel-Boul” by Jules Massenet (1874).
