Cistermúsica - Alcobaça Music Festival
Cistermúsica - Festival de Música de Alcobaça is one of the most prestigious and well-established erudite music festivals in Portugal. Taking place in the majestic scenery of the Alcobaça Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, every year the Festival presents more than 50 performances and a assorted programme that embraces opera, dance, visual arts and cultural happenings, allowing discoveries beyond the boundaries of classical music.
In this 31st edition we will celebrate Rachmaninov's 150th birthday and Women in Music, focused on promotion of female representation in classical music by listening to women ́s music of all times (from baroque to contemporary), by increasing possibilities for commissions and performances of women ́s compositions and to raise awareness about the importance of gender balance in music business.
