Cistermúsica - Alcobaça Music Festival
From June 27th to August 2nd, a festival that is “A Classic for All” on a centuries old and unique stage: the Monastery of Alcobaça - UNESCO Heritage Site.
On the way to its 33rd edition, the Alcobaça Music Festival is presented under themotto “Variations, Impressions and Illusions”. Anticipating a programme of more than 50 concerts, in 2025 Cistermúsica will mark unavoidable musical ephemeris that span centuries of history and a great diversity of styles. Among other milestones, we’ll be celebrating the 500th anniversary of Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina (1525–1594), one of the greatest representatives of the Renaissance, as well as the striking modernism of Shostakovich, on the 50th anniversary of his death, and the musical impressionism of Ravel.
From intimate programmes, in spaces of great architectural beauty, to major concertsin the Central Nave and the Cerca, the 33rd edition reaffirms the Monastery of Alcobaçaas a place of pilgrimage for music lovers, with the ability to unite different audiencesand artistic expressions, crossing genres, eras and formats.
