SUMMERTOUR 2022

Following the CLASSICAL BEAT Festival we will go on Summertour with a great program. Artists take up the wish for peace in their compositions. On the closing night, Guillaume Perret literally plays under the stars and takes the audience on a sentimental, emotionally charged journey into the universe and back to our wonderful earth. More hope is offered by the musical restaging of Heiligenstadt's Testament, in which Beethoven confronts his deafness and appeals for courage.

PEACE by PIERRE BERTRAND & THE GERMAN/FRENCH BIGBAND

The CLASSICAL BEAT Festival is pleased to spotlight the European talents of tomorrow with its international festival orchestra.

Under the artistic and musical direction of saxophonist, composer and conductor Pierre Bertrand, the new program "PEACE" will focus on the theme of peace in the current troubled times. This will feature compositions by young composers from the orchestra members, with three special guests adding to the international orchestra:

Frenchmen Stéphane Chausse (saxophone, clarinet) and Joel Chausse (trumpet), and Dane Steen Nikolaj Hansen (trombone).

The audience can expect popular Latin American jazz and South American songs, as well as compositions and arrangements by the young artists involved in the project. Even if it is a matter of course, this international project is intended to remind that with music all men and women work together in harmony, regardless of their religion, nationality, age, etc.. For this reason, the CLASSICAL BEAT Orchestra is a large formation composed mainly of young, already "prominent" professional musicians from France and Germany, but also from all over Europe and Canada, a symbol of peace in itself. Music should serve here as a link and make social differences forgotten.

THUNDEROUS SILENCE:

Beethoven: Heiligenstadt Testament

"...little was missing and I ended my life myself..."

A multimedia concept concert by Bernd Ruf about Beethoven's hearing loss.

With music by Ludwig van Beethoven, Danny Fresh and Ilja Ruf.

Text by Ludwig van Beethoven.

Ludwig van Beethoven loses his ability to hear and becomes deaf. Out of desperation, he asks himself the question: Can I go on living? Do I want to go on living? It is his belief in art, his belief in the power of his music to make the world more human, that keeps him alive.

"Thunderous Silence - Beethoven: Heiligenstadt Testament" addresses Beethoven's increasing hearing loss. In 1802, Ludwig van Beethoven wrote a farewell letter to his brothers, which became known as the "Heiligenstadt Testament" and was never published during Beethoven's lifetime. Musical, cinematic and theatrical elements interact in a multimedia performance concept. Beethoven is represented by an oak bust by the Lübeck artist Bettina Thierig. The role of Beethoven will be played by actress Antje Birnbaum as Beethoven's voice, rapper Danny Fresh via multimedia screen, JazzBaltica award winner Ilja Ruf and jazz professor Bernd Konrad. Dancer Rabea Bode embodies the "art" that becomes Beethoven's life source.

The music, conceived by Bernd Ruf, ranges from original works by Beethoven to newly composed pop and hip hop songs to jazz improvisations
