STROOM
Water is the source of all life on our planet. It possesses untold life-giving power, which in the case of the Scheldt Valley feeds a beautiful natural area. However, water can also be destructive, as we saw last summer in eastern Belgium. The Scheldt Valley is the setting for the Sigma Plan, the water management plan designed to protect Flanders from flooding. This makes it a focal point of the climate discussion, a debate that cannot be conducted exclusively by scientists and politicians. To truly turn the tide, a broad social movement is needed. We play our part in this by ensuring that the indispensable voice of artists is heard.
In the middle of the National Park 'Scheldt Valley', we unlock a hidden gem of open space that’s home to an abundance of nature and heritage. We follow the meandering Scheldt between Ghent and Antwerp. The journey takes us past picturesque villages and magnificent castles linked by splendid walking and cycle paths. STROOM allows artists’ voices to be heard in a unique symbiosis between nature, culture, heritage and tourism. Together with the public and numerous local partners, we look forward to a sustainable future for this area, for our country, and for the planet.
You can enjoy big and intimate concerts, discourse with experts on climate and a series of River Bank Concerts. Completed with walk, bike and boat tours, you can stay for several days at local B&B's.
