XXXVIX FESTIVAL "THEATRE CITY"

Motto: "The truth-must-shine through"

From churches to fortresses, from Shakespeare to fiddlers: 66 events in 54 days of the iconic Budva festival, which this year brings together more than 700 artists from 13 countries.The thirty-ninth "Theatre City" festival will be opened on July 1st with the play "My Theater" by Boris Liješević on the stage Between the Churches.During its 54-day duration, this year's "Theatre City" will present a total of 66 events, of which 20 theater titles, 8 concerts, 15 literary evenings and 2 art exhibitions. The programs will take place on the squares and streets of Budva's Old Town as well as outside it, in the amphitheater of the monastery of the Holy Trinity in Stanjevići, in the hotel complex Slovenska plaža, and on the fortress above Mogren beach.It will bring together more than 700 participants from Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia, Macedonia, Portugal, France, Great Britain, Russia, the Netherlands... As usual, the programs will unite the aspiration to show new artistic tendencies, attractive new productions and themes, as well as to equally represent the most attractive content that marked the region and the international scene in the previous year.The motto of this year's festival is THE TRUTH - MUST - SHINE THROUGH, which is a quote from Dušan Jovanović's play "Provincial Playboys After World War II" or "Taking What's Theirs - Keeping What's Ours", according to which one of the festival premieres is being prepared.
