13th Khachaturian International Festival
The Khachaturian International Festival: A Celebration of Timeless Music
The 13th edition of the festival will take place in Yerevan from December 9 to 19, 2025, featuring a captivating programs of exceptional concerts.
Founded through the dedicated efforts of the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, the festival is held annually under the baton of Sergey Smbatyan, Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the orchestra. The festival is organized by the Aram Khachaturian Cultural Foundation with the support of the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports. The festival's strategic sponsor is Freedom Broker Armenia and the general partner is Yerevan Municipality.
Each year, the festival welcomes world-renowned artists to its stage. Over the past decade, legendary figures such as Krzysztof Penderecki, Zakhar Bron, Maxim Vengerov, Alexander Romanovsky, John Malkovich, and many others have performed at the festival, leaving a lasting mark on audiences and participants alike. The upcoming edition in 2025 will be no exception. The audience will enjoy outstanding performances at the Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall, featuring celebrated artists including violinist Alexandra Conunova, cellist Emanuel Graf, pianist Denis Kozhukհin, conductors Gianluca Marcianò, Sergey Smbatyan, Vag Papian and Bojan Suđić, performing alongside the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra. The festival will also feature a series of chamber music concerts to be held at the Aram Khachaturian Museum and the Komitas Chamber Music House. The festival’s concert program will include works by Aram Khachaturian, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Arvo Pärt, Sergei Prokofiev, Ruben Altunyan, and Antoní di Cristofano.
The festival will conclude with a grand concert at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex, featuring the program “Symphonic New Year. Khachaturian Jazz”.
At the heart of the festival is a tribute to Aram Khachaturian, honoring his musical legacy. Each year, the program features his iconic works as well as compositions by his contemporaries.
A special highlight of the festival is the concert dedicated to jazz arrangements of Khachaturian’s music, offering a fresh and innovative interpretation of his oeuvre.
In recognition of its artistic excellence, the Khachaturian International Festival became a proud member of the European Festivals Association (EFA) in November 2021, cementing its status as a festival of international importance.
