Cultural Olympiad Sarajevo 2025

The SWF 2024-2025 programme is being promoted on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the founding of the SWF, which was born out of the Poetics of the Sarajevo area, and on the occasion of the XIV ZOI 84th and 30th anniversary of the historical project of the citizens of Europe “Sarajevo, the cultural capital of Europe” from 21.12.1993 to 21.3.1994. The project was organised by the Festival Avignon and IPC/SWF in the period between the two cultural capitals of Europe, Antwerp in 1993 and Lisbon in 1994. The Avignon Bridge and the Sarajevo Bridge Festina lente are urban architectural symbols that testify that the SWF and the Avignon Festival inherit the European and world unity of cultural diversity and the supreme art of the theatre of life. We want the theme of the Sarajevo 2025 Culture Olympiad to be our vision of the world in 40 years and beyond until the end of the 21st century, and that's why we chose the motto 40 POLUS in the artist's imagination.
