DPP | Portimão Percussion Days 2026

The Corvo e a Raposa Cultural Association, with a focus on promoting percussion as a universal artistic language and a musical form of unity and dialogue, is organising the 5th edition of Dias da Percussão Portimão [DPP'26] between 13 and 15 February 2026, under the artistic direction of Vasco Ramalho and Daniela Tomaz.

DPP'26 will bring together international percussionists such as Kasia Kadlubowska, in partnership with the UNESCO City of Music of Mannheim (Germany); and nationally and internationally renowned Portuguese percussionists such as Drumming Percussion Group, Tiago Manuel Soares and the duo Hugo Ferreira e Gonçalo Ribeiro (Porta Jazz). These artists will engage in dialogue with the community and artists residing in the Algarve region, e.g. students from the Integrated Music Course and the Professional Jazz Course at the Bemposta School Group, Portimão, and young percussionists from the Algarve Contemporary Percussion Group.The programme includes 1 Jam Session and 3 concerts with a varied programme linked to the world of classical percussion, jazz and world music, for the Portimão community. Of particular note is the musical commission by DPP'26 to Portuguese composer Ricardo Ribeiro, with Vasco Ramalho and Drumming Percussion Group.The programme also includes an online conversation as a pre-event theme for discussion and promotion with the Festival artists on 7 February; 2 parade format actions in public spaces with the Bomboémia Percussion Group from the University of Minho and 5 percussion workshops/masterclasses for youngsters with the festival artists, notably the Grupo de Bombos de Lavacolhos, with the support of the Lavacolhos Junta de Freguesia, Fundão.DPP'26 is projected across a network of different venues at the city of Portimão, together with public facilities such as TEMPO – Portimão Municipal Theatre and Portimão Museum Auditorium, in dialogue with secular spaces in the city such as Sociedade Vencedora Portimonense and its public spaces: Historic Centre, Alvor Centre, Riverside Area et al.DPP’26 is a project by O Corvo and Raposa, co-financed by the Portuguese Republic / Directorate-General for the Arts and having the Municipality of Portimão as a strategic partner.The detailed schedule of DPP’26 - Portimão Percussion Days will be available soon in the following website: https://dpportimao.pt
