Still deciding how to spend Valentine’s Day? A festival is always a solid plan with a partner, friends or family. Below are several festivals taking place on 14 February, with concerts, dance performances, theatre, workshops and more throughout the day in Portugal, Norway or Belgium.

DPP | Portimão Percussion Days 2026

Portimão, Portugal

The 5th Portimão Percussion Days aims to promote percussion as a universal artistic language and a musical form of unity and dialogue. Three performances take place on 14 February:

  • Concert -“Native” by Tiago Manuel Soares: solo performance with Portuguese traditional percussion.
  • Blade instrument workshop by Miquel Bernat: explore the world of the marimba and vibraphone, deepening your understanding of the techniques, sounds, and repertoire of these fundamental percussion instruments.
  • "Konnakol" Rhythms Workshop by Kasia Kadłubowska: explore the basics of South Indian rhythmic language for counting, structuring, and intuitively understanding complex rhythmic patterns, known as Konnakol
  • Street parade by Bomboémia Percussion Group of the University of Minho: traditional Portuguese and Brazilian percussion ensemble.

BalkanFest recreates the atmosphere of a backyard in the Balkans with quirky rhythms, sarmas, sevdah, børek and kolom. It delivers concerts, theatre-plays, exhibitions, and literature for everybody.

Now, for that special day, they are welcoming Ole Hamre and Gabriel Fliflet, celebrating their 30th anniversary.

  • Concert by The Hanseatics: A cheerful Balkan-pes performance with pure poetry and playfulness on drums, singing, accordion, stepping, pots and melodica!

Interdisciplinarity, experimentation, and technology take centre stage, alongside urgent themes such as mental well-being, diversity, LGBTQ+ voices, social justice, and climate change well-being, diversity, and climate.

  • Concert - ‘Polyphonic Encounters’ by Younes Zarhoni & Marc de la Linde: blend of rhythmic structures, field recordings, and electronic elements.

An adventurous day for all the family awaits you at Krokusfestival, a meeting place for children and young people with a focus on performing arts.

  • Rondom Rond” by Les Zerkiens: wordless puppet and object performance about Billy, a curious little bear.
  • Interactive installation - “Is that possible?” by 1000POOT: playful installation delving into the world of dreams and reality.
  • Por” by dOFt: on stage, two living rooms literally revolve around their own axis. In one, a boy is trying to find his place among moving boxes. In the other, an older woman lives surrounded by cherished memories.
  • The mountain” by Laika: 'theatre of senses' - what if we could stretch time just a little longer? What if we could be together, just a moment more, with the one we have to let go?
  • The Ethereal Paradox” by Zoë Chungong: dance solo in three parts exploring the meaning of beauty. Each part highlights a woman presenting her body in a different zeitgeist and dance style.
  • "Plakplein": continues festival interactive activity where kids can build, play, invent and listen.
  • "Eyes. Gaze. Further. Look." by Lies Cuyvers and Ciska Vanhoyland: a dance performance that invites you to see things differently: at yourself, at others, and at what arises between you.
  • "The Sharona": a cheerful play installation with the playful snake called "De Sharona".
