This compact and intense festival will take over the Alexander Theatre from August 28 to August 31, 2025 — a rare opportunity to immerse yourself in every performance within a single week!Since 2021, the Helsinki Contemporary Opera Festival has united performances by independent professional groups in music theatre and opera, becoming a one-of-a-kind event in the Finnish performing arts scene. The festival has placed special focus on the development of music theatre and the promotion of new Finnish works, providing an important platform for composers and other professionals in the field.Among Finnish composers and music theatre professionals, the festival has been regarded as especially significant — its role in showcasing new works and serving as a meeting point for artists has been exceptional. This year, the festival will be presented in a new, condensed format: a one-week celebration of contemporary opera.
