Kammermusikfest Sylt - The Eternal
In the thirteenth year, there is a big change compared to previous years: In 2025, the Sylt Chamber Music Festival will exceptionally become an Easter festival! From Thursday, 17 April to Easter Monday, 21 April, the international festival artists will be guests on the island and will thematically accompany this festive occasion with classical music at the highest chamber music level. Already in 2023, a festival concert took place on Easter Sunday in the Westerland church of St. Nicolai, which was very well received by the local and guest audience. Following on from this small tradition, the festival will be moved to Easter for 2025 - for family reasons.
Under the title "THE ETERNAL", the festival follows the dramaturgy of the eternal Easter story, albeit not in a religious way: a musical path is planned that leads the dramaturgical curve to a life-affirming conclusion via death and pain (which characterise Good Friday in particular) as well as resurrection and freedom.
Analogous to the eternal Easter story, the program includes many timeless pieces from the chamber music repertoire. Each concert program will feature an iconic, epoch-making piece, such as Franz Schubert's String Quintet, Robert Schumann's Piano Quintet, W.A. Mozart's Clarinet Quintet or Ludwig v. Beethoven's Septet.
