Move Off - 18th Edition 2026

MOVE OFF is an International Dance Festival organised by the MOTUS Company in collaboration with Castelnuovo Berardenga City Council in the frame of the permanent artistic residency of the MOTUS Company at Vittorio Alfieri Theatre in Castelnuovo Berardenga (Siena, Italy). The 18th edition of the Move Off Festival is characterised by the presence of well-established Italian and International companies as well as by young choreographers selected through 2026 Move Off Call for Young Choreographers.

“It’s the time of the last man who only works, the one who shrinks everything” said F. Nietzsche in Thus Spoke Zarathustra. Man, as an entrepreneur of himself, focuses on work pursuing self-realization until he inevitably self-destructs.. He imagines himself free, but is chained like Prometheus.

COME POTEVAMO NOI DANZARE

A reflection on the very current theme of the difficult construction of a culture of peace in times of war and on the role that art can play in this process. “Come potevamo noi danzare” is an invective against war and violence.

A work of physical-poetic theatre born from an engagement with the homonymous work by the philosopher Søren Kierkegaard. An unstable psychic space, shaped and transformed: a stage of identity where bodies do not narrate a linear story but inhabit states, tensions, and drifts. Aut Aut questions the moment in which every decision divides: choosing one direction means renouncing the other.

Insufficient is an artistic search for time, moment and space where human beings act. Why? To capture the time, the moment, the space which is often insufficient. Life itself is insufficient to realize our dreams and five dancers are put in search of what is insufficient.
