[Go Green] Piccolo Opera Festival

Piccolo Opera Festival has decided to create a totally sustainable opera theatre. For this reason we convinced the owners of Spessa Castle, the main venue of the Festival, to build a green theatre in the castle park. A theatre that was entirely sustainable, with a stage, backdrop, orchestra pit and entirely natural audience. A theatre created in perfect harmony with the surrounding area, as image of the typical vineyards of the area. The backstage is also set to be entirely natural, with suppliers and materials attentive to sustainability. Production management is also trying to reduce emissions and energy consumption until reaching zero impact. Once the shows are over, the theatre returns to being “simply” a part of the park. Even in the choice of titles and their staging, the Festival wants to talk about sustainability and a future increasingly in harmony with Nature. Opera not as a piece of museum, but a lively form of art that indicates to Society a path of change and innovation to improve the quality of life in a sustainable and inclusive sense.
