[Go green] Porta Ferrada Festival
2023 has been such important year in the history of our festival, and we are talking about a history that is not short: at 62 years. the oldest in Catalonia. In this 2023 edition, the organisation established our bases of environmental sustainability. Our activity already had a purpose of environmental and social responsibility. However, this year we have taken firm steps with a vision for the future. We figured out that one of the largest sources of waste generation was plastic cups. We knew we couldn't do without them and decided to make reusable plastic cups. We created a glass cleaning team to be able to put glasses back into circulation and give them a second life. Apart from that, the money we made from sales was used to clean the sea floor of the Sant Feliu de Guíxols beach (the festival town). This initiative has been well received by the public and also by the organisation, to the point that we have delivered more than 24,000 ecological glasses. We consider that this campaign has been very in line with the philosophy of our festival. A festival that has respected the life and history of Sant Feliu de Guíxols. How? The artistic programme of the festival brings music to all parts of the town: from homes, gardens, theatres, terraces and even the church. It is a mainstream festival, that brings together international artists and national stars and more than 60,000 spectators per season. We do not forget where we come from and we always make it a priority to bring the festival closer to the entire population.
