Den poezie is a 2-week festival around the birth of a Czech Romantic poet, K. H. Mácha. It is a combination of a more traditional festival, with readings and performances by leading Czech and international poets, and a grassroots/educational festival celebrated in schools, libraries, cafes etc. It takes place throughout the country in around fifty towns and its motivation is openness to poetry in all forms. Poetry materials - brochures, bookmarks, posters on public transport are also part of the festival. Admission is free to enable the fullest participation.
