Join Festivals for Compassion
With Festivals for Compassion, festivals around Europe express their solidarity with everyone who has been affected in any way by Corona. They do so by presenting a new solo composition by composer Calliope Tsoupaki.
On 20 June the piece will premiere during the Dutch festivals Holland Festival, Wonderfeel and Festival Classique with live broadcasts on the Dutch NPO Radio 4. The eight Festivals of Flanders (BE) and Radio Klara will take over the next day. After this, like a relay race of compassion, the work will begin its journey through Europe traveling from festival to festival, and will be shared online.
In the meantime, more than 30 festivals have joined and we hope you will join as well. Each festival selects their own artist and instrument and share their video recording online. The score can be downloaded free of charge from www.festivalsforcompassion.com... from 8 June. The relay race of compassion will be visible on this website as well as on social media of the various festivals. Participating festivals decide for themselves when they want to share their version of Tsoupaki's composition online in the coming months. Join and sign up via the website (now available in seven languages): www.festivalsforcompassion.com... you will find more information plus the application form.
[Festivals Stories] Sacrum Profanum Festival
The Sacrum Profanum Festival has always brought together the old and the new. Their response to the pandemic was to launch PLAY KRAKÓW, which is one of the few niche
streaming platforms that focus on heavily curated materials, working mostly
with local partners and promoting local culture.
[Festivals Stories] Grandezze & Meraviglie - Festival Musicale Estense
Grandezze & Meraviglie - Festival Musicale Estense is the longest-running early music Festival in the region of Emilia Romagna in Italy. The pandemic impulsed this festival to rethink its online presence. They have realised about the value of video streaming tools, even though they recognise that recordings cannot replace live events.
[Festivals Stories] Malta Festival Poznań
The 30th anniversary edition of Malta Festival Poznań focused on the festival's local dimension as the pandemic made it impossible to produce the planned international programme. However, they managed to organise a 'festival on tour' holding events in innovative settings such as rivers, by lakes, housing estates or fields.
