Zoé Leme Aubril - 05 Apr 2023

From 23 until 26 April 2023, the European Festivals Association's Arts Festivals Summit will take place in Peralada and Girona, two beautiful cities located in Catalonia, Spain. Unfolding the 70-Years-On Agenda, the Summit invites festivals, cities, and the business sector to work together on some important issues related to festivals.

In the meantime, and to celebrate the return of spring, let’s take a closer look at which festivals are currently taking place in Spain or will begin soon. A lot of festivals are coming with very different themes and multicultural programmes. Some of them end in the next few days so don’t waste any time.

ITIF

____ is Theatre International Festival (ITIF)

1 January 2023 - 31 December 2023, València, Spain

_____ is Theatre International Festival (ITIF) was founded in 2021 by Just Art Association, a non-profit arts organisation in Spain. ITIF fosters trans-disciplinary and multicultural collaborations between artists around the world and continues to explore the possibility of "theatre" from different angles of practice, research, and education. In each ITIF, the artists in residency will collaborate based on a specific theme.

Aside from displaying the final work to the public, they will also exchange and share their creative processes with different audience groups through a variety of activities. At the same time, well-developed works on related themes will be selected and invited for performances on an international scale.

ITIF especially values the work and growth of early-career artists. With the development and changes in society and the theatre field, ITIF will also flexibly optimise its organisational form.

Festival Territorio Violeta

01 July 2022 - 30 June 2023 Madrid, Spain

Festival Territorio Violeta is a multidisciplinary festival that focuses on the path of society and in the concrete, the performing arts, in favour of equality.

Violet has long been the colour of feminism and it is no coincidence that they turn to this colour to talk about equality. Using the current symbology that associates pink with women and blue with men and taking advantage of the commonplace of the mixture of both colours : violet. The festival puts the accent on this colour as a symbol of a commonplace of equality, which they will undoubtedly not reach without the complicity of both genders.

Festival of fairs and festivals of diversity: To use these privileged exhibition spaces to reward those productions that, in some way, make visible this journey that we as a society must make to achieve gender equality.
