STORYTELLING

Scottish International Storytelling Festival 2024

As Hallowe’en approaches, Edinburgh lights its seasonal storytelling hearth and welcomes everyone to its glow. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the Scottish International Storytelling Festival which coincides with the 35th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. From 18 to 31 October, the theme is ‘Bridges Between’ and the festival is commissioning new work which looks at how societies can ‘build bridges’ between cultures, artists and audiences all over the world through the power of storytelling.

Bram Stoker Festival

Four days and nights of deadly adventures await you during the Bram Stoker Festival, from 25 to 28 October. Dublin gets gloriously gothic this October bank holiday weekend to celebrate the legacy of one of Ireland’s most beloved and iconic writers. The festival draws inspiration from Stoker, his life, his work, the Dublin of his time and celebrates the Gothic, the supernatural, the after-dark and the Victorian. Samhain: Limericks Hallowe'en Festival

Celebrate the Irish roots of Halloween as the festival returns to the streets of Limerick City from 24 to 26 October. The Fire and Shadows Parade on 26 October will light up the streets starting at King John’s Castle. During the festival, there will be lots of magical dark storytelling, an ancient church nighttime tour, film screenings, discussions where one can indulge, converse and celebrate death, a cold plunge in the city’s river, and more.

Festival of Wonder

7 - 10 Nov 2024 | Silkeborg, Denmark

All the way up North, in Denmark, at the Festival of Wonders the excitement will be felt from 6 to 10 November. During those 5 days there will be a festive, colourful and above all peaceful invasion in Silkeborg. Puppets and their humans will take over Silkeborg’s scenes, schools and venues with imaginative performances and events. The theme of the festival this year is ‘Homage to the Art of Puppetry’.
