Whether embraced by forests or nestled on the steep heights of rocky cliffs, the echoes of festivals blend with the soundscape of the natural surroundings and the communities hosting them. These summer winds carry their stories, sounds, colours, symphonies and art echoes across valleys and mountains, sprouting from small villages dotting their slopes.

Marvão Internacional Music Festival

At the summit of the highest mountain south of the Tagus, in the São Mamede Mountain Natural Park, the walled town of Marvão hosts the festival's XI edition. This year’s programme is exclusively dedicated to chamber music, including a collection of 21 composers’ portraits.
The performances will take place in the village’s churches, the castle, and the ruins of the Roman city of Ammaiam at the mountain's feet, immersed in the scenographic lights of dawns and sunsets.

After the earthquake that shook the region in 2016, the Sibillini mountains and their villages vibrate and resonate with music. The festival is rooted in ecological values and social regeneration, aligning with the most important Green initiatives at both the European and national levels in respect of the natural environment that hosts the festival itself.
